This story is old, but I think it's a good illustration of how 'anti-Russia' Ukraine has become. I urge you to google translate and read it.

Beautiful stonework.......I think putting in just the right stone is like using just the right word(s), which you do.

You are beautiful squat! Wish I could help more, working artist here - stone wall is stellar!!!! Thank you thank you for being hilarious and what is most likely dead serious in all you write and dig up.

Thanks Susan :)

I understand the plight of the artist -- no worries. Your readership is very valuable to me, though! And thanks for the very kind words.

take care,

You can stack my stones any time.

Edward Slavsquat's avatar

I'm holding you to that, John! Next time I swing through the States...

Just a small retaining wall, it won't take long. Stay for dinner.

That's a lovely dry-stone wall, Riley. Well done. Wish that I had proximity, money - and stones! I would definitely want to have my land ringed round with something beautiful like that. It's a wonderful art-form.

The sustainability grift is permeating every nook and cranny. Here in Cape Town, it's all over our universities like a rash. While I can agree with "look after our animals and habitat" and "don't shit where you sleep and eat" sentiment, this WEF-nudged stuff so clearly has another agenda. I have come to want to vomit at the mention of "sustainability" and "stakeholders" and "public-private partnerships". UCT's VC (recently booted out for bullying staff, with a golden R12 million handshake as reward) loved hobnobbing with the Davos crowd, and she certainly introduced some whacky woke stuff over the years.

https://uct.ac.za/research-innovation/uct-and-un-sustainable-development-goals

Here was a particularly cringe-worthy set of science sessions that she foisted on our callow youth, no doubt with the simpering obeisance of some useful, sycophantic staff. It was held in collaboration with some WEF-smelling, shady Geneva-based "think-tank". It had my eye-rolling reflex working overtime:

This page is particularly egregious - with ridiculous word salad nonsense such as "computational diplomacy and negotiation engineering". My brain died a little while reading it:

I'm wondering when the kids will start questioning it, if ever.

Thanks Ann, and thanks for the very interesting links!

My friend went to UCT and became radicalised :(

Most of them do, unfortunately. It's not called Moscow on the Hill for nothing.

I'm absolutely certain the stone tower is in the village of Stoneville, near Stonehenge, close to Riverstone Abby, in which the Druids got stoned in... a historic analysis as sane as the question. I hope you at least built it for a sane purpose, like smoking fish or as a chimney for your nuclear fallout shelter, or even to ventilate the chamber in which you keep your captive women. I could get locked up even for responding.

Edward Slavsquat's avatar

It was built for no good reason whatsoever, I'm afraid to admit.

Still, your comment has given me ideas... maybe if I ever return to New Hampshire.

Tony Ryan's avatar

"It was built for no good reason whatsoever"... Oh thank god for that. Now I know you are sane. I can now acknowledge how much I admire the sequence of balanced triangulation, each stone relating structurally to every other stone in the formation. Magnifique!

For me personally, it would be very helpful to be able to use PayPal to give some money.

Edward Slavsquat's avatar

Unfortunately I was booted from PayPal. For Extremism. ha-ha. What a world....

Patreon maybe?

A less connected/well known PayPal account may also be an option. It works for other people in the "resistance".

Edward Slavsquat's avatar

Let me explore some options, and I'll get back to you.

Thank you very much.

You are my hero and remind me of G.Orwell of nowdays.

Yours writings are so valuable for the antiglobalist to understand what is moving behind hill, means, Russia vs collective West.

Very grateful,

Aleikoum Salam Riley,

While opening the page I thought you had moved to my beloved Northern Mali:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GImD5Z6vTF8

My children were born in the Gao area and a small village 20km from Timbuctu...

I work again at the highway restaurant this summer and in a couple of weeks i will be able to afford a new yearly subscription since the salary is correct and you won't have to demonstrate your ability to do the "avian flue" danse for that.

Prigozhin's comment is really interesting, indeed.

Take good care of yourself, Barakat Allah oufik! (May God give you his blessings)

PS: You may not be rich but you have a lot of people blessings you from all continents (many not richer than yourself). As one Malian peasant told me some twenty years ago on a rooftop in Gao: "Everybody want a TV, even a car... but do these things make benedictions for you?"

piano?

How about this short piece?

Piano's dope I love playing and listening to it. Currently reading through this article and other news while listening to a bunch of classically trained pianists play their own covers of some of the best anime soundtracks lol https://youtu.be/sEQf5lcnj_o

Thanks, Riley... "I built this stone tower-thing in New Hampshire, about 12 years ago. If you can geolocate it, you win a free paid sub. (Yes, it can be seen from outer space.)". Is it Carter’s Tower of Foolishness? (44°22’17” N 71°24’27” W)

good guess, but no :)

Oh, and let's not forget about the rumor where Belarusian President Lukashenko said Putin had given him a draft of the Istanbul agreements between Moscow and Kiev, which allegedly contained a clause on "the lease of Crimea."

Hmm, leasing Crimea that sounds fascinating.

I wonder if it's a short or long term lease.🤔

If that works out, Biden should consider leasing LA, NYC, or Vegas to China. For that matter, maybe he already did.😁
