Digital IDs: What Russians crave!

Worrywarts are attempting to besmirch safe & convenient digital identity cards?!

So safe and so, so convenient

Your humble correspondent reported yesterday about the fantastic digital ID system arriving in Russia.

Sadly, some people have misinterpreted this great leap forward.

Russians are smitten with insuppressible joy; soon they will have the privilege—nyet, honor!—of identifying themselves digitally.

Now we see that the second part of this project [after COVID QR codes], where a smartphone with an application and a QR code turns into an electronic identity card, is being implemented strictly according to plan.

Apparently, the practice of checking QR codes during the period of COVID lawlessness proved to be beneficial; now the system can be introduced on an ongoing basis.

Katyusha hurtfully suggested Russians were one step closer to living in a “digital concentration camp.” How could a patriotic media outlet type such incendiary words?!

But what about left-leaning socialists in Russia? Surely they think digital IDs are safe and convenient for the proletariat?
