I’ll take one, too. And remember: we have high expectations for the T-shirts.

Fantastic adventure Edward, Czechia and Moravia are beautiful. Speaking of Boskovice - my grandfather was born about 150km from there, Dolni Becva. Lost most of his hearing while being a tank commander in the army, but what a tank commander he was - I swear he could shoot a waving US flag on the Moon if he wanted!

Before you run off to sell your grandmother's pearls and embark on trip to Moravia inspired by marvelous Edward's trip & writing, remember that of all East. European countries Czech Republic is likely the most westernized. Great, traditional experience you will find in rural areas just like Edward, visiting Prague will give you a mix of nice architecture contaminated by the same shops and depravity one can find in Berlin or London. In rural areas if you mention LGBT - people will likely think you are talking about a new improved version of DDT.

One can only wonder about the outcome of this trip - will Edward's body by uplifted by fresh air and long walks or more likely destroyed by shocking consumption of local tasty beverages?

Better comedy than on comedy channels Ed ;)

Must get that potato alcohol liquid soon! Is there a brand I should aim for?

Bozkov (which is not actually rum, or made from potatoes, but everyone calls it potato rum): https://www.bozkov.cz/bozkov-original

Thx!!

But wait, I thought you said it was Rum... and that it was made from potatoes.

So, it is more like schnapss (made from fruit) (40-50 % alc.)? Or like vodka, made from grain?

Oh I see their site, they produce every possible version... well, that is so like Czechs ;)

Now I dont know which one to choose hahah

so it used to be made from potatoes but they changed the formula in the 90s. If you are actually interested in trying it, I would just go with the original.

Two observations, one is that the nice lady doing doughnuts on her horse was conducting an illegal "sideshow." The other is that yes, we Americans often do wander around with lumber in our hands. I can't tell you how many arms-full of lumber I've wandered around with, trying to figure out exactly where the foreman wanted 'em stacked.

Many thanks for the very most enjoyable read I've had in quite some time.

As a former colleague of Ms. Bogado's, from LA's once listenable Pacifica Radio Station... I can confirm that she is as insufferable and boring, as that article would suggest. If she f-ed your article to get ahead, that wouldn't be the first time that she appears to have done something like that. One time, I had to call the incredibly untalented, but politically connected and astute, (then) Interim-Program-Director-for-life Alan Minsky at a fairly late hour, for some appropriate business related to the program...I was a bit surprised when Aura answered the phone.

This was apparently at some point before the station had reached its "Minsky Moment" -

and jettisoned him to the (allegedly) Progressive Democrats of America - proving "the Peter Principle", that people fail upwards to the corresponding level of their incompetence.

At one point in Ms. Bogado's career of insufferableness and infamy, she saw an opportunity to get ahead, by attacking a far more successful broadcaster (Amy Goodman?) for 'platforming' Larry Flynt (as I recall)... Big mistake. She got a write-up in Hustler, in an article that then turned on the entire radio station, and a former General Manager - whom Aura almost certainly despised, out of jealousy and to curry favor with an openly mutinous staff. The word "Lesbians" was prominently featured in a very unflattering title, about some of the drama then unfolding, back in the 2000's. I wish you much luck, in any research or literary diversions that this clue may bring to your personal library. I told myself that I only bought the magazine for the article.
