Johnny Cash had a song about your cat.

Much enjoyed this long awaited update on the mayhem and misgendering happenings at EIVS. How I envy your plethora of fresh cow and goat milk, unadulterated by homogenization and other terrible things done to perfect food, but how blessed you and Ed Jr are to have it. May I suggest that you post videos of the cheese and butter making? I'm sure you will have some clever upgrades to the process we would all like to know about.

Even though I have no rustic wood burning stove or fireplace, I am going to begin making the EIVS Cob-400 to have in the event of some catastrophic event that may take out my modern electric heating, as I have a lovely river birch right out my back door, and a build up of cobs I've collected in the overflowing trashcan in my bathroom.

Tell Susan that his manly maleness far exceeds the embarrassment of his female appellation and not to go being a brute just to overcome it.

And last, I'm in love with the rotunda. Please don't ever dismantle it🙏

Great report----delightful videos!

What a blessing that was. In this crazy mess of a world, I couldn't ask for anything better. God bless my friend.

In your second-to-last photo with Susan and Sabrina on their high perch, there is a painting with an ET piloting flying saucer beaming up a cow next to the barn. Perhaps I missed it if you posted this in the past, but it is quite good! The work of Ed junior, I presume?

That excellent painting is actually the work of Ekaterina's daughter. It really ties the room together.

A cat named Sue? ;-)

Oh my gosh! That was amazing. I have been giggling away at your cob-400 in action video, so funny and an excellent idea ... Candle wax also makes an excellent fire starter more like thermite than nuclear though, hehehe.

Wasn't John Wayne's real name Susan, or Tracy or something ... I think cats choose their own name and implant it in your mind via the wormhole link they set up when they decide you are good enough to be allowed to share the house they find themselves in ... So if he wants to called Susan ... Then Susan he shall be xx

John Wayne's real name was Marion Robert Morrison.

Started to make a fire then got distracted and read your post. The little ones so full of joy! I had a kitten that was a girl, and named accordingly, that turned into a boy too! (The best cat ever!) Then I made up a Cob-400 to light my fire. Thanks for getting me to laugh at the start of my day and for spreading the joy!

Love this post!! Delightful photos. You have a lifestyle to covet - I'm envious! Your article raised my spirits and made me smile - thank you.

I love the Cob-400! When I in Vermont, I used toilet paper cylinders and birch bark to light my stove, but never together like this. What a great invention!

Here in the Sierra Nevada, there are no birch trees, unfortunately. So I use hand-split pine kindling. I miss the birch bark, a fantastic fire starter.

What a wonderful home. I love all the animals. If I wasn't so old I'd love to have a farm with a milk cow. Every time I look at Russian videos I'm struck with all the wonderful wood you have and the remarkable way it is used to build homes, build furniture, etc.

Thanks for the update and don't feel bad. I've misgendered several kitties.

"The rotunda at night"

haha your the best brother

oh man I misgendered a cat once too, it was this feral pure white cat with fancy long hair. Looked like it was from a fancy feast commercial and looked very girly, but turns out that princess snow was actually mr.snow!

Looks like I godda step up my "instant-inferno Cob-400" skills, here I am back in my cave man ways just using strips of birch bark and lichen. I must now abandon my backward primitive ways and embrace the genius of sustainable toilet paper roll developments!

Thanks for the great post :)

What a nice community you have Edward! Thank you for sharing it. My favorite member so far is the goat nibbling on your beard... I'm from a warm climate and I've never seen goats with such fur... they're gorgeous... God bless your endeavor.

Why does the calf get the milk from a bucket and not from his mom?

Edward Slavsquat's avatar

he gets lots of milk from her every day when they frolic outside together but when they're in the barn he's kept in a pen to avoid any catastrophic barn accidents (there's another cow and a bull).

Thank you so much for your kind answer and thorough explanation.

I have always said there are more ways to do a thing than one - for the most part - thanks for all the proofs of that here 🙂. The rotunda is great!

And again, thanks from this old-lady citygirl for the trip to the countryside.

I envy you the wonderful cheeses you’ll have. 🧀 - (probably not like this one, though - muuuch better)
