It uses the chrome store for its extensions library, so you can still download google translate. It even opens private windows in Tor if you want to use that.
I've just downloaded Gikken's Mate translator extension for tryout; seems to work.
FWIW, I also use hopefully-uncensored presearch.com as my search engine.
I try to avoid all things google, in the naive hope that my privacy and security might be marginally improved. My goal is to extend the time it takes NSA/Google/MSM, or whatever, to access all my personal info from 16 to 20 seconds. Take that!
Thank you!! I have been to Russia (Moscow) half a dozen times and absolutely loved the experiences. I am an avid student of Russian history and love the culture. And yes, what I have experienced there, first hand, with what I see depicted in media has little correlation. Thank you for this article!!
There you go again, Riley, telling people that they should get information about Russia from..... Russians, instead of from reliable commentators and bloggers who know exactly what the hero-needing activist masses in the West want, someone they can look up to and pin their hopes upon. 😂
Georgy Sviridov - surprised I have never heard of him until just now. Close contemporary of Shostakovitch - but neo-romantic (sounds bourgeois to me!) - close to the Orthodox sung liturgy tradition (how did he survive!? - died peacefully in 1998) - but connection to Russian"folk" traditions may have saved him. Actually, I know of no composers of any note who perished in the purges - Stalin took a run at Shostakovitch but that may have been just for sport - the whole group of them Dimitri and Prokofiev at the forefront, were treated with great care during the great Patriotic war - shifted around as needed well behind the front lines during the worst of it.
"I Cried"... So Russian... and yet, what a great idea for a forum here in the States. With the eye-popping, mind-blasting degradation we are served up on a daily basis, just think of what fun stories we could share! Laughter through tears...as the immortal Gogol wrote.
Spasiba, Edvard! This is literally exactly what I've been wanting... but didn't realize it until now. Will brush up my Russian and jump on board. What a service you are, as unofficial ambassador to east and west.
"One of the great mysteries of the 21st century is why western alt media coverage of Russia bears little resemblance to Russian alt media coverage of Russia. "
Not a mystery when one knows how to judge supposed "alt" news channels. Because majority of them are govt agenda pushers in disguise. Which is logical. Main stream media is owned by lying jooz and has become obsolete, hence the race to gain subscribers masquerading as alt news channels.
So huge thanks for being on the right side in this fight! To you and everyone else who is not afraid to think and speak the truth and outside of the imposed box.
Cheers out of Zagreb, Croatia.
If anyone here is from ex-yu, please check my blog and subscribe. I write to inform Croatians who arent good with foreign languages with things that are not found in any mass media, or any alt for that matter. In fact, I tend to have a will to write certain things only because I dont see others doing it. Things I find very important. And if I see the need to report local happenings to foreign public, I will add content in english.
It basically claims Russia is offering 'free' education to non-Russians, but I can't help but feel there might be some sort of shot mandate catch or WEF nonsense or 'surprise Ukraine war military conscription' or some such. Could you delve and explain?
my russian knowledge is limited to a few words related to crochet. That won't help much. So I will continue trusting you. Specially since the tries on telegram went into space.... not a computer expert either.
I just keep reading your stuff so i don't have to learn russian :)
