I agree with Riley on all points written in his brilliantly articulated news update from Russia. I really hope the WHO follows through and leaves Russia. And I really hope Sputnik V and all the other Russian concoctions NEVER get WHO approval. AND I hope this WHO spat escalates into a tit for tat feud. Russia needs to nip the $71 million WHO contribution in the bud and STOP throwing good money after bad. Plutnicki begging the WHO to stay is ridiculous. Injecting Russian children (applies to ALL innocent children WITHOUT informed consent and WITH their whole future life in front of them) is a heinous crime.

Such a shame. It would indeed have appeared to be a golden opportunity. But then again, appearances can be deceiving…

I always enjoy reading your essays, Edward, and getting a glimpse of what life is like in Russia. What advice would you have for many of us (like here in Canada), that have found ourselves inexorably falling under the yoke of dictatorship?

My advice is to NEVER give up. Action4canada is a good resource for actions to take. Also many Canadians like Chris Sky and Amazing Polly are very inspirational. If the brave Canadian truckers pre-emptively left BEFORE that confiscation law was passed, then the protest would have been completely successful even with the bad 4 leaders that hijacked the movement. A successful protest needs to be a sustained spontaneous unpredictable whack a mole grassroots flash mob monumental nationwide movement in my opinion.

I love it that you are right there IN Moscow...it makes me think romantic thoughts like when in the old days news from "far off lands" was transmitted via morse code from the basement of some ancient crumbling building...cool. I have often traveled to Moscow to record music with their fabulous musicians...sad I won't be doing that for a while. Thanks again!!

Great investigative work yet again, Riley. Russia's plea to the WHO reminds one of the Little Anthony and the Imperials' tune Take Me Back. "Take me back, i'm begging you." The mindset which informs the Russian leadership is corporate multinational bureaucratese, so what else to expect? 4IR all the way.

I repeat, Please do NOT include President Lukashenko. Belarus is the MOST free country in the world and I made a 30 minute video documentary about this fact. If anyone has a good suggestion on where to post MY Belarus documentary video for free, then I would appreciate it. I would like to post my documentary to my substack if that is possible. I invite you or anyone else to fly into Minsk, Belarus for coffee and chocolate or sushi or lo mein or borscht and see FACTS for yourself. I will pay half of your hotel (up to 4 stars) for a 3 day stay and lunch and Belarusian chocolate. The fact is Belarus does NOT require a PCR test NOR a QR code to fly into Belarus. NO mask mandate! NO injection mandate! NO QR code! NO PCR testing requirement to fly into BELARUS. NEVER a lockdown! ALL businesses ALWAYS stayed OPEN! Nnightclubs stayed open to 4 AM in Belarus this whole time! Belarus can NOT be included in ALL countries. PLEASE do NOT be an absolutist and include Belarus to YOUR ALL countries list! President Lukashenko is NOT associated with the World Economic Forum whatsoever! Please name a Belarusian who is with a VERIFIED NEWS SOURCE!

The foreign minister of Belarus is a dear friend of the west and initiated the visa free regime for everyone to visit Belarus for 30 days. https://eng.belta.by/infographica/view/visa-free-travel-to-belarus-8174/ The foreign minister knew full well that Iraqis and Syrians would take advantage of the visa free regime. The west wanted more sanctions on Belarus and the Belarus foreign minister Vladimir Makei obliged. President Lukashenko keeps Makei around only because he is a diplomatic bridge to the west in my opinion and Makei convinced him additional tourists would be a money maker. Western sanctions cost way more than tourist money. It got so bad that the Iraqi government forbid Iraqis in summer 2021 from going to the Belarus consulate in Iraq to get their visa free entry permit to Belarus.

https://eng.belta.by/president/view/lukashenko-questions-advisability-of-massive-covid-19-testing-147217-2022/ Quote from President Lukashenko on 26 Jan 2022. >“You know that I keep my finger on the pulse when it comes to coronavirus treatment. I have my own stance on this matter. I do not want to force it upon anyone, and others are also banned from pressuring people. The omicron variant is said to be milder, to rarely lead to death provided a patient receives adequate treatment and takes precautions. I am following the dynamics, and I am monitoring the death toll. I see that the surge in omicron cases has not led to the surge in deaths. Doctors suggest a more targeted approach to testing, that is to test only those who already have symptoms,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. Yes, Belarus has a database of who has been injected. QR codes are ONLY given to Belarusians who travel by airplane to CIS countries upon their opting in voluntarily. Visitors to Belarus are ONLY required to have 1) Medical insurance, 2) round trip ticket 3) money for their stay. https://eng.belta.by/infographica/view/visa-free-travel-to-belarus-8174/ I could find nothing about a negative PCR test requirement although the Russian Aeroflot says a negative PCR test entry requirement is necessary in accordance with CIS countries which I believe only applies within CIS. I may have to go to Minsk IAP myself to find out for sure as the Belavia Airlines ONLY mentions temperature checks. Regardless, I can for a fact travel to and from Russia via train WITHOUT injection and WITHOUT PCR test.

I sympathise with your efforts to place Belarus in a true light. I was impressed with the people when there but the poverty was shocking. Some people asked me as a 'capitalist' where they would now get the capital to grow their country after 70 years of communist repression. They asked me where my country, UK, got it from. I replied that we stole it from with world but I wouldn't recommend it this time!

I also noted their mindset was remained communist. I saw 4 men painting a hospital door and asked Elena why this was so. She said they needed one man to stand on the ladder, one to fetch and stir the paint, one to hold to paint tin and one to clean off as they go. You see, she said, there is no unemployment here in Belarus.

A.My comment was about "when," you are making it about "now."

B. So Lukashenko believes in COVID and variants? Do you?

Expand full comment

A) I know that you were talking about when in the future and I totally agree with you as President Lukashenko can NOT lead the country forever. I was only talking about now because President Lukashenko single-handedly put a stop to the health care minister's plan for a mask mandate back in October. Many people associate Belarus with Russia and that is NOT the case concerning medical tyranny. And President Lukashenko has made Belarus the MOST FREE country in the world. If anyone disagrees with that, then please provide medical tyranny versus freedom evidence and compare which country has a mandate and which country does not.

B) Yes, President Lukashenko believes in the so called virus however he forbids tyrannical measures in Belarus. He knows people get sick and attributes a so called "virus" as the cause. He is intelligent enough to know that this is just a "common cold/flu" and called the "COVID" hysteria a "mass psychosis". I really appreciate the fact that I have ALWAYS been given the freedom to live in Belarus WITHOUT wearing a mask, WITHOUT social distancing, WITHOUT a PCR test, WITHOUT curfews, WITHOUT injection mandates, WITHOUT QR code to buy and travel. As for me, I am completely on board with Doctor Andrew Kaufman and a virus does NOT exist. Only bacteria, poisons, parasites, fungus exist.

Expand full comment

To clarify: i know it may sound picky and petty, but Dr Kaufman's position is NOT that a virus does not exist. It is that there is no scientific proof for the existence of either this virus or any other virus. One cannot prove a negative. We cannot prove a unicorn does not exist. But we CAN establish that there has never been a scientific proof that a unicorn exists.

Re A: not a matter of Lukashenko leading forever, but of Belarus being able to maintain any such stance when all other nations, particularly Russia, go along. A president has a limited choice, given he/she operates within the framework of the nation-state system. We the people of the world do have a choice, we cannot sit back and hope that our little enclave is OK while the rest of the world is sucked into the Great Reset vortex.

I was travelling in Belarus in 1994 - I guess things have changed since? Lukashenko hadn't done much to improve the lot of the people then as far as I could see. My good friend Elena in Minsk will verify it.

You sound rather defensive because your presumptions that your tune is not Elena's has no basis - you know nothing of her. I was trying to be helpful and understand how it is in Belarus today through the fog of propaganda.

The way Elena is described makes her sound like an opposition activist. I have permanent residence in Belarus since 2016 and I have talked to more college students than she has UNLESS she is associated with a college. The quality of life in Belarus is much improved since the last time you visited here. Belarus has very little debt in comparison to the UK. The UK stole wealth from everyone in their British empire conquest. Western bankers gave Lenin carte blanche to set back Russia and Belarus with communism for at least 70 years. President Lukashenko has single-handedly repaired Belarus WITHOUT an IMF loan. UK and western crooks try their damnedest to sanction Belarus to set back the economy. Poland has 10 times more debt than Belarus and still gets EU handouts. https://usdebtclock.org/world-debt-clock.html

Expected reaction: Russia clones the WHO, calls it Eurasian Health Organization, in partnership with Mr. Gref. Eventually, that clone will be as corrupt as the WHO is today, but it will promote Russian products (or Western European clotshots made in Russian factories). An army of Western NGOs and NED-backed Russian language media will continue to make younger Russians believe that everything in the NATO-West is pure gold while the majority won't even notice that there's a new WHO clone and due to the lack of efficient media organizations in Russia (not US-backed), many interested Russians won't even know about those scary things we in the West already know, like Gates' influence, germ games, genetically modified mosquitoes, dozens of epidemiologists questioning the effectiveness of clotshots or mrna-shots against respiratory diseases, the military background of JHU and other Western "health" organizations and projects (keywords like "security" in health security agency), social credit systems coming to a count(r)y near you, CBDC (the abolition of cash - Canadian truckers?) and simultaneous worldwide attempts to introduce what Gates called digital certificates in 2020 - QR codes and digital ids for things that used to be available without id, now limited to smartphone slaves...

really good question. I don't have any deep and profound thoughts about it, only that it is extremely spooky and probably not a good sign for the rest of us. but I guess time will tell.

Expand full comment

I know you asked for Riley's thoughts however I would like to chime in. My personal opinion take is there has been an noticeable increase in missile testing. Connecting the missile testing with a "fever" outbreak could be coincidental. Most North Koreans have recovered according to the TASS news report with 6 deaths. So called "CONVID" cases have NOT been reported until now. Why now? This is crop planting season so maybe DPRK used a chemical in the fertilizer or a herbicide, pesticide poison. Or possibly a bacterial outbreak (from food or water) of some kind that causes fever and North Korea may want international aid. On a side note. the DPRK last year shunned millions of shots offered by the U.N.-backed COVAX distribution program, including doses of AstraZeneca and China’s Sinovac vaccines, possibly because of questions about their effectiveness and unwillingness to accept monitoring requirements. Now Eritrea is the ONLY country NOT to report a "CONVID" case. MOSCOW, May 13. /TASS/. An "unknown fever " has been spreading in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea since late April, Reuters reported on Friday citing the Korean Central News Agency.

Of the 350,000 people who developed fever symptoms, 162,200 have already recovered and the remaining 187,800 people are being isolated for treatment, KCNA said.

On Thursday, 18,000 new fever cases were reported, according to KCNA.

The Omicron BA.2 subvariant of COVID-19 was found in the republic, KCNA reported on Thursday. The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea convened a meeting that was attended by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. He ordered a lockdown in all cities and counties.

Maybe Putin is worried about assassination. He sure is keeping his distance from almost all people. He has cancer apparently. Remember how the CIA gave Hugo Chavez cancer. And now we are learning Stalin was certain that FDR was poisoned (CIA). Consider how this worldwide Bankster Mafia which owns most if not all Western intelligence agencies is pure, sinister, unrestricted evil. Rumor is chief justice Roberts had a gun to his head, videotaping him raping a young girl. Politicians in Washington get solicited, take a young girl to a hotel, have sex, are videotaped.

These cretins have unlimited wealth. They create most of the World's money supply out of thin air. Russia, China are inundated with corrupt bureaucrats and politicians. As an example they don't even bat an eyelid offering Dr. Paul Alexander $1M + $50k/month bribe to keep quiet. Oh-Bomb-Ya gets $65M book deals & gives $500k speeches. This gang of demons have been operating in secret for centuries and now they're going full monty, totalitarian World dictatorship. How do you stop such evil & viciousness that has infected every country on Earth from lowly city bureaucrats to Kings, Popes and Presidents?

Exactly my sentiments, Smith, a very good question and one I have been working on for the last 20 years. I finally arrived at a practical option which could work. Sun Tzu advises: “Be where your enemy is not.” This is my approach:

I agree with that tactic, but it takes time... Do you think we have that much time?

Expand full comment

Timing has always been our common problem. I have been predicting this economic collapse for 20 years and stand in awe at the ability of the Davos crowd to prolong the agony. This crisis is a process not an event even if a tipping point is reached as in 2008 and 2019. IMHO our defence is not to comply and build a resilient localised economy or die in the attempt.

Expand full comment

Localism helps, especially if you can link a local food supply with a local currency. Localism will not work with energy supply and many technological goods. And most people live in big cities for which localism will likely mean starvation --> roving gangs of ruthless people with nothing to lose attacking local communities. And the psychos are trying to destroy localism by pushing real estate prices sky high, using climate change hype to put all kinds of heavy taxes on property, restrictions on wells & water, denying road access, utility access. This is all inline with the Great Reset Plan of "you will own nothing" which means "you will rent everything from us."

The most important thing, the vital thing to do right now, Is talk to your friends, co-workers, relatives and online, everyone needs to know what's going on, no exceptions, no exemptions, this is war and you don't get to opt out. When very few believe the establishment propaganda & corrupt media anymore, when they are marginalized, there really isn't much they can do except use force and that will anger & motivate the population. And from that comes revolution. Hopefully from the ballot box. Get involved, seize control of all political parties & bureaucracies right from the local level & up. Everyone needs a nose for corruption, you need to know who they are and shut them out. Get busy.

Expand full comment

You make good points Smith. Localism requires a complete revision of the way we live; in my book I project a return to a lifestyle of England in the 1700s. Perhaps Amish is a good example however on the island of Orkney they are self-sufficient in electricity by tidal power and sell the surplus to the grid but this won't work without technology. Water wheels and windmills will do as in the past. I guess we are back to human energy and horsepower.

The best way to learn how to live well in the era is to read this book about a period when there were no banks and cash was an embarrassment:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Diary-Thomas-Turner-1754-1765/dp/0952451603

I wouldn't put any faith in political processes which have proven to fail. Community and cooperation as opposed to government and competition could prevail.
