Russian doctors demand end to compulsory COVID vaccination for mobilized citizens
The same group has been documenting deaths linked to Sputnik V
In response, the Independent Association of Doctors published two open letters—one addressed to Vladimir Putin, the other appealing to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Some excerpts from the letter to Putin:
OPEN DEMAND from doctors to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin
Vladimir Vladimirovich, we are doctors, members of the International Public Organization “Independent Association of Doctors”, who appeal to you with a demand to ban vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 for those mobilized and called up for military service.
To all inquiries of our Association: “Are side effects from vaccines against coronavirus infection recorded?”, The Ministry of Health, Rospotrebnadzor [Russia’s federal agency for human wellbeing and consumer surveillance], FMBA [the Federal Medical-Biological Agency] and Roszdravnadzor [Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare] referred to each other for an answer. Rosstat [Russia’s federal statistics agency] replied that deaths due to side effects from vaccination against a new coronavirus infection are NOT RECORDED, just as there are no separate statistics on those who die for any reason, but who have a vaccination certificate. Numerous inquiries and appeals to the above authorities also did not allow us to obtain information about how many people had complaints about post-vaccination complications, how many investigations were carried out on such appeals in accordance with the guidelines… […]
Our public organization has collected more than 1,000 cases of death after the introduction of the Sputnik V vaccine.
None of these cases were examined by a medical commission, and the drug continues to be produced and used to vaccinate people, including children of a certain age. Deaths and serious harm to health with the help of an immunobiological preparation were simply ignored.
Neither the prosecutor's office, nor Rospotrebnadzor, nor the Ministry of Health responded to a single demand to stop using a dangerous and deadly drug in humans.
Russian professor Pavel Andreevich Vorobyov, Chairman of the Moscow Scientific Society of Physicians, who deals with the treatment of coronavirus, states: “Countries where more than 60-70% of the population have been vaccinated have already shown their futility in the use of coronavirus vaccines, because the incidence crept up again after some time. In addition, hastily developed vaccines caused various acute allergic reactions in people, which in some cases led to death. And Russian coronavirus vaccines are no exception. In Russia, official data on complications are not published, they are not in the reports on vaccine trials. Perhaps because military personnel were involved in vaccine trials. ” […]
The design of Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, and Sputnik M [a Sputnik V vaccine for children], patented by the Gamaleya Center, coincides with the design of drugs specially developed for gene therapy by foreign companies. [For example, Gamaleya’s close collaboration with AstraZeneca—Edward]
Currently, Rospotrebnadzor declares that it is imperative to vaccinate all mobilized citizens of our country. The drug, which, in our opinion, has proven in practice to be unsafe and even harmful, will now be used on mobilized citizens? It is known that after vaccination, both local reactions and an increase in temperature can develop. Will our fighters go to the front with fever and symptoms of SARS after vaccination
This is contrary to the norms of military medicine. Any immunization is a major medical intervention that comes with health risks, as the response of the immune system can vary from person to person. When conducting immunizations, the benefit/risk profile should always be assessed.
According to the Decree of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Ministry of Defense No. 129 dated 06/18/2021, all military personnel, including those mobilized, are subject to mandatory vaccination in accordance with the vaccination schedule for epidemiological indications. […]
During the unfavorable epidemiological situation, citizens have been subjected to mandatory vaccination, and those who refuse medical intervention have been suspended from work. What will happen to mobilized citizens who refuse immunization? Will they be returned home or will their constitutional rights be grossly violated?
It is well known that during the Second World War in Nazi concentration camps, Nazi doctors conducted medical experiments on people, i.e. performed medical intervention against the will of the person. How will modern coercion, if the mobilized have no choice, differ from these crimes without a statute of limitations? […]
Considering all of the above, in the current difficult situation, compulsory vaccination of mobilized citizens, in our opinion, looks like madness, like a betrayal. […]
Vladimir Vladimirovich! As President of the Russian Federation and Supreme Commander-in-Chief, you personally bear full responsibility for the health and life of the citizens of the Russian Federation mobilized and called up for military service. We demand to stop vaccination against coronavirus infection of the military and other groups of citizens, as well as to organize a full-scale investigation of the vaccination…
In July 2021, the same group of physicians wrote to various ministries and federal organizations asking for the composition of Sputnik V, as well as information about deaths among fully vaccinated Russians. Their inquiries were stonewalled.
They also compiled a list of more than 1,000 deaths linked to Sputnik V and other Russian COVID vaccines, which you can view here. The Russian government has no publicly available data on post-vaccination complications. In January, Russian authorities shut down a website that tracks vaccine-linked deaths in the country.
In the same month, Rusisa’s Health Ministry claimed it would be “impractical” to publish data on the number of deaths among those vaccinated, since “such information does not objectively reflect any relationship between deaths and vaccination and may cause a negative attitude towards vaccination.”
Shortly after, a State Duma deputy who tried to obtain the most recent clinical trial data for Sputnik V was informed by the Health Ministry that such information was a “confidential” trade secret that belonged solely to the drug’s developer (the Gamaelya Center, which is operated by the Health Ministry).
Despite this shocking lack of transparency, mobilized Russians now face the possibility of choosing between being forcibly vaccinated or serving years in prison.
Explain.rf, a government-operated information portal, claims COVID vaccination is mandatory for all serving military personnel—while stipulating this policy may depend on “epidemiological indicators.”
Similar decrees can be found on regional information portals (the Moscow Region’s website contains a nearly identical message).
As we mentioned in our previous blog post, enforcement of this policy could vary from region to region. So far there are at least three regions that have confirmed mandatory vaccination will take place or has already started.
But these regions are not acting independently—COVID policies are closely coordinated with the federal government. And unlike the regional mandatory vaccination decrees introduced last autumn, the legal grounds for coercing mobilized citizens to get injected stems from a June 2021 order issued by the federal government (the Ministry of Defense).
Notably, the decision to begin mandatory vaccination of mobilized citizens in a handful of regions mirrors the same tactic used to introduce nationwide compulsory injection decrees last year: the policy was first introduced in Moscow and several other regions in June 2021, and then over a period of five months was expanded at the regional level to include the entire country. We could see something very similar play out in the coming weeks and months.
Will Putin intervene to put the brakes on this troubling turn of events? Possible but unlikely. In December 2021, Russia’s president hailed the military’s compulsory vaccination policy.
“I would like to emphasize that the army has implemented all the necessary measures to combat the coronavirus infection in the army itself, carried out almost 100% vaccination of personnel, this made it possible to avoid the mass spread of the disease, protect the life and health of military personnel and thereby guarantee high combat readiness of units and formations,” Putin said during a meeting with Shoigu on December 21, 2021.
This is slightly worrying.
